Our journey at Mahaan’s started in 2019 from a deeply personal place.For years, my dad struggled with acid reflux.

But during family trips to South India, something changed. He felt completely fine. After countless tests and sleepless nights, we realized the answer was simple — it was the fresh, cold-pressed oils he was cooking with.

My dad has over 25 years of experience in food preparation, and when he understood how powerful fresh oils could be, we knew we had to bring this home. We decided to build Mahaan’s, staying true to the traditional oil-making methods we had seen, while following the highest Canadian food health and safety standards.

I joined the journey soon after graduating from business school. I have always been passionate about healthy living and accessibility to organic food and clean water.

What started as a small organic bulk store soon grew into something bigger. We went online to make our oils and herbs available to more families, everywhere.Mahaan’s quickly became more than just a business. It became a connection point.

I will never forget one of our first customer stories — how she was cooking with our oils and her husband could smell the food from the driveway. It reminded him of his mother's kitchen, full of love and memories. Moments like these reminded me why we started.

Another customer shared how happy she felt knowing she was giving her husband high-quality oils. She noticed the difference immediately, and even said her body could feel it too. Real food connects with us in a way nothing else can.

The name Mahaan’s means greatness. It keeps us grounded in our mission to never compromise on quality — in our products, in our customer service, or in our commitment to the environment. It reminds us every day of the legacy we are building.

Our logo is inspired by the sacred Vaagai tree, known for its roots in Tamil culture and Ayurvedic tradition. It is the very wood we use in our traditional wood-pressed machines. Even though there were faster options, we chose the method that honored the purity and soul of oil-making.

We built an open-concept oil mill to show our commitment to transparency — in our practices, in our ingredients, and in the food we share with you. For us, reviving ancient oil-making traditions is about more than technique. It is about respect. It is about family.
